Craftsman for Over 50 Years

About
Gene Martin grew up in Maine, where hard work and craftsmanship shaped him early. After high school and an Army tour, he earned his cabinetry certificate from Maine Vocational Technical Institute, launching a 50‑year woodworking career.

In the 1970s, he settled in Plainville, Connecticut and built a respected renovation business known for honest, dependable work. Kitchens, bathrooms, additions, his reputation grew through precision and care.

Nearly 30 years ago, Gene found a new calling: custom cremation urns. Families wanted something personal, and Gene listened. He selects the wood, shape, and details to honor the person or pet being remembered. Over the years, he has created urns shaped like cars, bricks, boats, fiddles, pianos, and many other meaningful designs.

His motto has never changed - “You think it, we build it.”
Even in retirement, Gene continues to craft custom urns, bandsaw boxes, jewelry boxes, wall art, butcher blocks, clocks, cribbage boards, and one‑of‑a‑kind decorative pieces.
His work has traveled across the U.S. and abroad, including Canada, Poland, and Arlington National Cemetery.
He also gives back by donating handcrafted boxes to Beads of Courage, Maureen’s Hope Foundation, and Make‑A‑Wish, offering keepsakes to children facing cancer.

A craftsman all his life, Gene builds every piece with the same promise - If it matters to you, he’ll build it with care.
